Research targets only1. The market hypothesis
Each company below says, in its own report, website or a published interview, that Bangladesh is one of its main production countries. Lindex says a little over 40% of its global volume comes from Bangladesh, Engelbert Strauss reports 41% of its workwear made there, and Stanley/Stella reports 99% of its production value. That shows these companies already buy from Bangladesh. It does not show that any of them needs a new factory.
2. Account-level fit signals
| Public organisation | What its own sources state | Conditional fit for a Bangladesh manufacturer | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stanley/Stella S.A. Belgium | Blank apparel brand (T-shirts, sweatshirts, polos) sold to decorators. Its Fair Wear Brand Performance Check for 2024 reports 13 production locations in Bangladesh, 99% of its production value, and three new Bangladesh suppliers added in 2024. It runs a Bangladesh Liaison Office. | Organic cotton knit basics at volume. Relevant only to a GOTS-certified knit factory that can meet Fair Wear audit, overtime-tracking and living-wage expectations. | Brand Performance Check 2024 · Sustainability |
| Lindex Sweden | Has sourced from Bangladesh since 1998. A little over 40% of its global volume comes from Bangladesh through 16 direct suppliers running about 30 factories. Main categories: kidswear, lingerie, denim and ladies' wear. Publishes its factory list monthly. | A large, long-standing Bangladesh buyer that places more orders with suppliers scoring well on its commercial and sustainability scorecard. Best fit for kidswear, lingerie or denim makers with good water and wastewater data. | The Business Standard, Jan 2026 · Factory list |
| Kappahl Group Sweden | States it produces primarily in China, Bangladesh, India and Turkey, has had its own offices in Bangladesh for more than 30 years, works with around 140 suppliers and publishes its supplier list. | An established Bangladesh buyer with a local team that visits factories. A new factory would need to accept its Sustainability Commitment and its traceability requirements (goal: full traceability from 2026). | Suppliers and factories |
| Engelbert Strauss Biebergemünd, Germany | Workwear brand selling mainly to businesses. Its 2023 social report states that 41% of its workwear was made by 15 businesses in Bangladesh, its most important production country, and that 80% of its range stays largely unchanged year to year. | Technical workwear with long, stable production runs. Relevant to a factory with workwear or functional garment experience and audits that meet Fair Wear standards. | Social Report 2023 |
| Takko Fashion Telgte, Germany | Value fashion retailer. In August 2024 it stated that it works with 84 production sites in Bangladesh, has a local team of 13 there and is a signatory to the International Accord. Its website has a public contact form for new suppliers (knit, flat knit, woven). | Has an open route for new suppliers to introduce themselves. Relevant to price-competitive knit and woven factories covered by the International Accord. | Bangladesh statement · Supplier contact form |
Sources opened on 22 October 2026. All five already buy from Bangladesh, and four say they have their own team or office there. That is the opening and the obstacle: they already have long-term suppliers, so a new factory needs a clear reason to be added, such as a product gap, spare capacity, certification or price. The first conversation may well happen in Dhaka, not in Europe.
3. Qualification questions
Knit or woven, fabric weights, categories (kidswear, basics, workwear, denim) and order sizes each buyer works with, and whether the factory matches them.
Which standards each buyer expects (Fair Wear, International Accord or RSC, GOTS, amfori BSCI, Sedex), and which the factory already holds.
Who handles sourcing for each company, in Europe or in its Bangladesh office? No names are presumed here.
A missing product, capacity, lead time, certification or price. Only a real answer from the buyer turns an account into an opportunity.
